An upper gastrointestinal (GI) endoscopy is used to examine the inside of the oesophagus (gullet), stomach, and duodenum with a flexible endoscope. A colonoscopy allows for visualisation of the large bowel (colon) using a flexible endoscope.
Learning Outcomes
- Upper GI Endoscopy: Learn how to insert a flexible endoscope through the throat into the duodenum to examine the oesophagus, stomach, and duodenum.
- Colonoscopy: Understand the procedure for inserting a flexible endoscope into the rectum and inflating the colon with air to obtain a clear view of the large bowel.
